About

ABOUT ME

I am an Urban and Environmental Planning Graduate from Griffith University. With high attention to detail and self-drive as my attributes, I strive to be the best planner in my future. I am passionate about a variety of subjects, including:

• Transport developments (active and public modes [air and rail])
• High-density developments
• Ecosystem services (of wetlands, forests, oceans, coastal and fluvial areas)
• Environmental issues associated with developments
• Community engagement and multiculturalism

Other than planning-related subjects, I am self-learning my fourth language, Portuguese. Hopefully, I would be able to communicate with Portuguese-speaking people in a few years.

Sim! Eu estou aprendendo português. Fale comigo em português! Eu sei que meu portuguê não o melhor mas eu vou tentar.

My 5-year plan after graduation (2020 onward)

For the first four years (2020-2023), I aim to stay in Australia for more work experience with a Graduate Visa. I aim to work, as a young planner, in the fields of transport planning, environmental planning, and social planning. Depending on how I go in these four years and the visa conditions, I will decide whether I will stay in Australia, go back home, or explore more regarding planning in Europe. In general, I wish to be an impactful planner that contributes to making a place better.

Pathways to Sustainable Water and Wastewater Management in South East Queensland

Co-authors: Jake Pitt, Chandler Walker, Rachael Petherbridge, Alexander Menicanin, Katharine Kell

This is a two-volume climate change adaptation plan for water and wastewater management in South East Queensland (SEQ) in a 20-year time frame, which has also considered the projected population growth.

Based on the six identified issues, a strategic vision for SEQ in 2039 was created:

Sufficient, secure and sustainable water, supporting a climate resilient and connected region in 2039.

In order to realise this vision, a strategic framework was developed including 21 goals, 50 objectives, and 100 strategies. Lastly, an evaluation of the strategic framework was done against the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change emission scenario and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

This project has entered the 2019 Gold Coast Innovation Showcase as a finalist.

Transformation from a lawmaker into a place-maker: My experience in an electorate office of a Member of Parliament

This is an article written for the Planning Practicum 20. It addresses how a lawmaker can transform into a place-maker using my experience in the electorate office of a Member of Queensland Parliament, Samuel (Sam) O'Connor.

It first talks about theories regarding place-making, sense of belonging, and community engagement and development. Then, it showcases Sam's work within the Parliament and the community and my work with him to show how these works are associated to place-making.

Australia's Performances in the Implementation of Global Air Navigation Plan

The aviation industry is growing across the globe. To achieve sustainable growth and ensure safety, the ICAO published the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP). The GANP has identified six regional priorities for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region; they include: (1) Develop an APAC seamless CNS/ATM plan; (2) Improve ATM – ATFM, CDM, FUA, civil/military cooperation; (3) ATS route review; (4) A transition of AIS to AIM; (5) ADS-B and satellite-based separation, and; (6) Performance-based navigation (PBN).

Since Australia is one important and active member in the APANPIRG, whose role is to facilitate coordinated planning in the APAC region, it is crucial to investigate the performance in an Australian context. Therefore, this essay in each section discusses each regional priority identified by the GANP and identifies Australia’s performance in the implementation of the GANP.
